The real cost

Why one gift is rarely enough.

Stem cell treatment$15,000
$8,000$20,000
Travel & accommodation$7,500
$3,000$15,000
Therapy intensive (paired)$8,000
$5,000$12,000

One treatment trip

$30,500

3 treatments per year (ideal)

$91,500

3 trips a year, during the window when it matters most.

One treatment trip is a stem cell treatment, the travel and accommodation to reach it, and a paired therapy intensive. The ideal is three a year, during the window when it matters most. That is the gap our grants help close.

Who's eligible

A child with HIE at birth.

That's it. Open to any family worldwide, with no financial-need test. We prioritize the youngest babies, and also fund older children in chronic phases of injury.

What grants fund

Paid to approved providers. Never cash.

What grants fund

  • Regenerative and neurorehabilitative care, like stem cell therapy
  • Care that insurance does not cover
  • Paid directly to an approved provider

What grants don't

  • Cash to families
  • Non-approved providers
  • Payments for Shiva, its founders, or related parties
  • Anything not medically supervised

How to apply

A two-step path.

  1. 1

    Initial inquiry

A short screening about your family, your child's diagnosis, the care sought, and your situation. About five minutes.

  2. 2

    Full application

If it fits the program, we invite you to a full application and tell you exactly what documentation is needed.
